These two are hilarious and I gave up watching them a long time ago. Why wouldn't a poor congregation use a single wide? Sheesh.

A Writer's Graveyard
by compound complex inimmersed in dickens and hawthorne, i cannot easily shake off the dusty antiquity of a bygone era.
however, its scant reality inhabits, not the present, but my sad hearkening back to the shadows of long ago.. hot blood pulses anew within fingers i thought stilled forever in a writer's graveyard of unwritten verse.
it is a reluctant awakening to a life much sadder than that endured by storybook friends who cannot see me, know me.. permit me, therefore, to reenter that precious twilight betwixt my present and the past, the faraway there of dearly departed poets.

Writing comes easy to many. Humility not so much. Thanks for not going off on me. I read about purple prose again recently, something you are not guilty of by the way, and reread about beige prose. I had to laugh. The tendency is to go too far one way or the other. Some would think this exercise over kill. The reality is that the best writing is done in a rewrite. I even reread and write my posts.
I agree, we become word blind when imagination and expression go unchecked. I really like your final draft there, its to the point without sacrificing your voice. Well done.

CC, I meant to send this via pm but it wouldn't format properly. Please don't take this as an attack on the content. Its my habit, having received a certificate in editing and publishing, to see how to clarify and condense any redundancies. See if you like this edited version. Does it contain your thoughts sufficiently?
Immersed in Dickens and Hawthorne, I cannot easily shake off their dusty antiquity.
of a bygone era. However,(its) scant reality (what "its"?) inhabits, not the present, but my sad hearkeningbacktotheshadows oflong agothe past.I'm hooked on Dickens and Hawthorne and can't get them out of my head. Not them, not their time. It's not real -- I get it -- this going back in time to yesterday's shadows.
Hot blood pulses anew within fingers
,Ithought stilled forever in a writer's graveyard of unwritten verse,It isa reluctant awakening to a lifemuchsadder than that endured by storybook friends who cannot see me, know me.I'm writing again, fingers to the keyboard, where once I figured I was washed up as a writer
.Yet,I wonder if my old, dusty friends were better off than Iam? Who knows? There's no way to bridge time.Permit me to reenter that precious twilight betwixt my present and the past, the faraway
thereof dearly departed poets. If I search within the darkenedchannels of elusive time, maymight I find old friends who have been rendered immortal in ink?In any event, I need to get back
, backto that time and place where my favorite writers lived. They residehave livedforever in the books I read. I want to join them. Its hard to be edited, I know. That was part of the curriculum of the editing course. I hope I was able to show a concise way to express what was on your mind. Editors are the assassins of our beloved verbiage. lol Love ya bro.

Sometimes it seems as if a writer gets caught up in the sound of his own words rather than expressing what he has to say in common English. The speed bumps of pretentiousness are a trap. Spit it out man and you'll do fine. If you want to go back and pretty it up, have at it. The best work is done in the 2nd or third edit. Good luck CC.

Invited to a talk: What to do?
by Fred Franztone inmy sister texted me last night with an invitation to watch our dad give his first ever public talk.
i don't live particularly near to my family, but i'm not too far from them to make the journey, and i am on good terms with them, having never been baptised and so not disfellowshipped; they don't shun me and likely wouldn't even if i were disfellowshipped, it's not in their character.. i haven't been inside a kingdom hall since 2006, and i would like to keep it that way; i only intend to step inside one again in the event of a family wedding or funeral service.
i don't want to be rude to my sister, ignoring the text isn't an option, so i need a diplomatic way of declining her invitation.. i've considered saying that i'm busy, but this leaves things open for her to ask again in the future, and i'd rather she got the message that i'm not interested, without me having to say so in an explicit way.. any suggestions from those who have been in a similar situation?.

Talk soon. Give my well wishes to dad. Love ya later.

Give the poor guy a break. Obviously he doesn't "wish he could make it".

Who Is America? Sacha Baron Cohen (Ambush humor--what do you think?)
by TerryWalstrom inthere have been many tv programs all the way back to candid camera which set people up for pranks.
it was all in good fun and the results were shown only if a legal release was signed allowing the prank to be broadcast.getting permission after-the-fact was essential, otherwise, you've wasted your efforts.ahhhh, but what about public figures who are legally exempted from the necessary "permission" form agreement?is an ambush set-up fair or even ethical?the answer we give depends on how much we love or hate the victim!if we really, really dislike certain public figures there's a tendency to want to see them embarrassed and exposed as buffoons, idiots, hypocrites, and fools.on the other hand, consider this.
in a nation as divided as is america along color lines, political factions, and social "correctness" concerns--are we lighting a fuse by going too far?____why am i asking this question?i watched this preview and found myself torn.

Much of Sacha Cohen I've seen didn't strike me as funny. Whether I like or don't like the person played, I think its all fair game. Wounded vet, big fricken deal. I bet they could give a rat's ass he pretended to be one. Let's face it, good ol'Sarah isn't the brightest bulb and fell for it pretty hard. Her ego and a chance to be in front of a camera and talk stupid probably was very satisfying. Even good ol' Cheney went for it. Cohen didn't seem to ask many libs it seems? Maybe they aren't so quick to take the bait? Probably watch more HBO and know who they're up against?

Hearing and reading that sort of WT bullshit just gives me a headache. Pulled it right out of their asses they did. They discredit the Finished Mystery content but sing its praises. What a schizoid religion.
